PH21 1NY

This modern, alpine-style bungalow is situated within the area of the Cairngorms National Park, at the end of Inveruglas.

Inveruglas comprises a dozen scattered properties served by a hard, unmade ½-mile road leading up from the B970. It is set over 900 feet above sea level, with fine views over the Monadhliath mountains, the River Spey, Insh Marshes RSPB Reserve and, to the rear, the south-west Cairngorms. The enclosed garden has its own stile to the adjoining moorland; from the moor, one can join paths going straight to the hills and the pinewoods which show in the house picture background.

For walking and birdwatching Inveruglas is ideal, and among the bird species nesting locally are whinchats, goldcrests and crested tits. An old drove road (not open to other traffic) passes through, giving foot access to a selection of paths and forestry roads leading to Insh, Drumguish and Glen Feshie. Visitors' comments: “Heaven at last! All the good things in life.” “Did Beatrix Potter come here when writing the rabbit stories? What would she have made of the deer and birds?”

The accommodation comprises: hall; two twin-bedded bedrooms; lounge, with open fire, TV/DVD player (with Ipod port) and radio/cassette; balcony; kitchen, with fridge, freezer, cooker, micro-wave and washing machine; bathroom/WC, with fitted shower and hot towel rail.

All bed-linen is provided and included in charges; personal towels may be hired from ourselves if visitors prefer not to bring their own. In addition to the open fire, there are night storage heaters in the hall, lounge and kitchen, and an immersion heater. In winter, daytime electricity, including for other heating (bedroom radiators, towel rail and portable fire), is charged for, meter readings being taken before and after occupation.

We regret that no children under the age of 5, or pets, are allowed.

Ample car parking.

The owner requests that no smoking take place in the property.

From the south, follow A9 north and take B9152 turn-off to Newtonmore. Go through Newtonmore to Kingussie and then turn right into B970, signposted 'Railway Station and Ruthven Barracks' (ancient monument). Follow B970 for 4½ miles and you will come to an unmade road on your right (signs saying 'Inveruglas. Private Road') with an enclosure at the bottom housing a council skip. Slowly drive up this road. Towards the top, there are two points where the track divides - bear LEFT at each point. When you get to the top of the road, turn RIGHT. Kintulloch is the last property on your left.

2016 Price range
